I have been saying that particular quote at the beginning of a quiz night for nearly 10 years now.
My first introduction to quiz nights was from a friend on mine Brendan Lochead (founder of 'Believe It Or Not' weekly quiz nights).
I was a bar manager of a night club in Manukau City called Bourbon Street, one day over 10 years ago Brendan came in trying to get me to have a quiz night at the pub.
I told him NO WAY!! , I could not see people flocking to a pub mid week “to do a quiz”
How wrong was I, 10 years later you would be hard pressed to find a pub in your area that does not have a quiz night.
Not long after that, I hosted my first quiz night, boy was I crap!!
I read the questions out in very monotonous tone, gave each team about 3 seconds to answer then onto the next question and I did not look up from the question sheet once, terrible!!
How things have changed!!!
These days I host weekly pub quizzes:
Tuesday’s @ Horse & Trap, Mt Eden (for the last 7 1/2 years, averaging 20 teams)
Wednesday’s @ 1981 in Manukau (averaging 15 teams)
I also have great pleasure hosting many corporate, school & sports club quiz events, they are generally heaps of fun as everyone knows each other, they get dressed up & have a plenty of alcohol to help with the merriment.
Looking forward to seeing you at a 'Believe It Or Not' quiz very soon!!!!!
Cheers,
